The Orphan Works Bill.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'd hate to be a museum or other place that houses things of historical value and get sued because I wasn't able to tell the public who the copyright of the work belonged to.
But that's just it. I'm not anything like that. I'm a 17-year-old hope-filled young wannabe fractal artist who wants to be able to create works of art that will please and inspire, ones that people will say "Yea, I'd love to have that hanging over my mantel or in my bedroom." I want to be able to give my future clients the assurance that nobody else out there has claims to my work, that it is uniquely mine to give to them and only them.
Sadly, it's likely that if the Orphan Works Bill passes, I won't be able to pay for the copyright of every single one of my creations. Nor will I be able to securely manage my art in such a fashion that no one will ever be able to infringe my work.
And once my {hopefully} future career starts, that will be a downfall. Clients won't be able to fully put trust in me or my work, and the value of my work will be considerably less.
I won't be the only one suffering with this. There are millions of other wonderful artists who would hurt from this bill.
I'd absolutely hate to see anything of
The same goes for all the rest of the artists. The ones with pure talent, determination, and amazingly creative minds. You all deserve to have your work be valued at its highest level, and be yours and only yours.
Devious Comments
I'll do the same and more to anyone that takes your work, love.
